- Really enjoy these cookbooks since discovering them !
- Great cookbook.
- One of our favorite cookbooks.
- The book was in very poor condition and ratings on it said it was good.
- Great recipes. One of my favorite cookbooks. This book completed my set. The recipes have simple ingredients and are easy to make
- This is one of the best cookbooks around. I have not used a bad recipe from this book. I received it as a wedding present initially about 9 years ago. I used it so much it fell apart and I had to buy another one. I bought the yellow and the blue one as well but this one is by far the best of the series.
- Great cookbook to have everything I have cooked out of this book is been very good. My mother that passed way in 2009 had one in she used it all the time.
- What I love about the 'Calling All Cooks' cookbooks is that they contain recipes for comfort foods you had when you grew up, like for casseroles, oatmeal cookies, and corn bread. It's definitely not pretentious!
And it has several recipes for each thing, so you can pick out or combine the ones you like. That's particularly handy if you don't have some ingredient for one version and can just choose another or figure how to ad lib.
There are great recipes that combine yellow cake mixes, instant pudding and other short cut ingredients that allow you to make quick semi-pre-prepared but still homemade goodies.
Although I love that each recipe includes the names of the contributors, which makes it more personal, there's one minor downside as a result of the 'informal' presentation they don't always include specifics, so you sometimes have to guess at sizes or amounts. So, a recipe might call for a large tub of cool whip. Is that the 8 oz, 12 oz, or 16 oz size? Or a large can of condensed milk....well, the ounce count depends on the brand.
I received volume 2 as a present, and it is the most dog-eared cookbook in my collection. So, I just bought all the other volumes!
