- For $24.00, you get to read long tweets. I read this book, since I liked Steele's educational tweets. In a book format, Steele and Whitaker do not do the best job. There were just not many good points in the book. I am disappointed. The only reason I gave this book three stars was that I did learn some things.
I read Whitaker's Dealing with Difficult Parents. I was disappointed, too. The author just did not have enough experience dealing with difficult parents. There was maybe one personal story in the whole book. In Essential Truths for Teachers, there were only a few personal stories. It is disappointing. The authors should redo this book and put more effort into it. It is 99 pages. It has big font. So, it is probably 20 pages without spacing.
Read this book, if you cannot find anything else to read. - Whether you are a veteran teacher or just entering the profession, Essential Truths for Teachers is a must read! Danny Steele and Todd Whitaker have compiled a selection of highly inspirational and motivating messages that can be enjoyed individually or as a whole teaching staff. If you are struggling with negative co-workers, need to refocus your perspective on teaching or find a way to better connect with students, this book will help you greatly with that journey. It has certainly rekindled my passion for this noble profession!

- When this book arrived, it was not exactly as I was expecting. Big ideas, with follow-ups written below...not the usual narrative style of the fave teacher texts. HOWEVER, after keeping this book in the corner of my desk, I found myself drawn to it throughout the week. I would pick it up, get a couple good doses of perspective, and continue on my day with a good itch of deep thought tugging at the back of my brain. This book is a spark of great collegial debate and Twitter fuel.
- This is a book every parent and even student will find insightful into the world of teachers. My 6th grader picked it up to read and found it very interesting. It’s high time someone gave voice to the people who help form us in so many ways, our teachers.
- This book enforces what I do as a teacher! It is so powerful and gives me the fuel to keep on fighting for the kids I teach and live everyday. It has reminded me of why I became a teacher and why my job is the most important job on Earth!
