Living nightmares. Dead relatives. And one really awkward turkey dinner...

After an exhausting trek through seven hells, all Lazarus wants is to kick back and relax through the holidays.Unfortunately, the supernatural has other plans.

Three murder-suicides in as many weeks has New Orleans on edge. The killers? All family men, loving fathers, and wizards. Two is a coincidence, but three is a pattern Lazarus can't ignore, especially since he fits the profile. Something is driving these men insane and making them murder their beloved families. Something that strikes only at night and leaves only nightmares behind.

If Lazarus doesn't find whatever is behind these strange deaths and soon, his family might be next on the menu.

"Lazarus and Emma are trying to get onto a normal footing. Unfortunately, a titan, one of the primordial gods who preceded the Olympian gods, has been released from Tartarus. And it is trying to suck the magic out of wielders during their sleep (and incidentally killing them in the process). Baron Samedi, the Loa of the dead, tasks Lazarus to defeat it. No mean feat since it took the Olympians centuries to defeat the titans and imprison them.

Overall, I found the story entertaining and amusing (a half roasted turkey running thru Emma's apartment was hilarious). The titan quite appropriately was a night terror.

The only point I found a bit irritating was the speed and simplicity of how Lazarus takes the titan down. I had been anticipating a series of battles with different strategies, perhaps spanning several chapters, so the resolution of the threat was a bit of a letdown."

Night Terror The Lazarus Codex EA Copen Books Reviews

  • If you hated to see Jim Butcher end his Dresden series, take heart! Laz is as cool as Dresden, and he gets into just as much trouble, but he always comes out on top! (Well, most of the time.) Trust me, you're going to love this series!
  • Excellent book! Lazarus and Emma are working on a relationship but the road has a few bumps which they need to work out. Lazarus has made a trip the prison where his father is only because he has passed away. Up until now we have only heard about his dad and now we will meet his dad and briefly his mother. There are a couple of surprises related to his dad and changes to his feelings to help Lazarus move on.
Lots of people are having troubles and people are killing their families. The terror seems to occur when people are sleeping and a new character is coming out. It seems a Titan is causing problems and up until now they have all been incarcerated in a place in Hell. The problem is originating at the prison where Lazarus ‘s father was. Lots of action and a new character will appear to help the Pale Horseman in the form of the Sandman.
In addition to these nightmares and the killings that are happening around Thanksgiving where Lazarus meets the Emma’s family. An interesting group but Granny is funny person and full of surprises. Another big surprise comes in the form of Moses Moses. Lots of twists but a very interesting book which I give 10 stars. I look forward to the next book in the series!

  • This episode of the Lazarus Codex is the best . He, Emma and even poor little Remy (his infant daughter ) are not sleeping and having horrendous nightmares to boot. Something supernatural this way comes and it's causing good family men to murder their families and then commit suicide. The media claims it id holiday depression but Laz knows better. He's met the thing that's causing all the mayhem. On top of everything else, his father died up at Angola prison and keeps reappearing as a waking nightmare but handing out hints as to what is happening. The cherry on top is that Lazarus is about to meet and greet plus share in the Thanksgiving dinner with Emma's family. And you think your family's crazy. Oy vey ! Enjoy this wild ride -more ups and downs, twists and turns than the best roller coaster you have EVER ridden. (Some hidden gems of hilarity that will have you laughing hysterically ). Best ever ! Kudos , E.A. !
  • Night Terror is the 7th book in The Lazarus Codex series. Ms. Copen has again given us another exceptionally well written book with prose that brings Laz and his world to life. Laz just wants to relax and enjoy the holidays with his family. However this is not to be as 'something wicked this way comes' and he must stop it before it threatens his family. I was drawn into the story at page one and was kept on the edge of my seat to the end. It takes you on a wild roller coater ride with lots of action, twists and turns. Ms. Copen's books are a joy to read and I highly recommend this book as well as the preceding six in this series. Receive a copy and this is my voluntary and honest review.
  • Night Terror is the 7th book in the Lazarus Codex and it does not disappoint. Engrossed from Chapter 1, by the time I was one quarter finished, a plot twist arose that made me want to reread the whole series from a different perspective. When I’m reading and feel so invested, my family wants to know why I’m laughing or cringing and making weird noises. I tell them, “This should be a video game,” and they understand. I recommend your reading Night Terror, and all of E. A. Copen’s works.
Although I received an ARC and am giving an honest review, I purchased a copy to support this author (and to read again).
  • Wow this is a fantastic read. If you love a good thriller and investigative type read this is the read for you. People are dying in a strange way and Lazarus is having bad dreams as well. Lazarus needs to solve this before his family is put in danger. This read grabbed me right from the start and had me on the edge of my seat. If you love these kind of book of investigative type and solving puzzles you are going to love this read. The Author has done a fantastic job at bringing out the characters and the scenery, as well as the storyline, i highly recommend this read.

  • Night Terror is the 7th book in the Lazarus Codex series, and an amazing addition to it.

The past comes back to haunt him as Law's father gives him a clue to a returned menace. Family fun abounds this Thanksgiving as Emma's family comes to town and Laz gets the chance to interact with them.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Author Copen's use of dialogue and description is strong and the story pacing is spot on.

I received an ARC of this book and chose to review it.
