• The tips in the book would make your workplace a more harmonious, productive environment for upper management through hourly employees.
• I was excited to purchase this book and read it because I love the 5 love languages however when I entered the MBA inventory code that came with the book it says this registration code has already been used. Very disappointing. I would not buy this book again.
• This book acknowledges the different ways coworkers want to be appreciated. Not one size fits all but that personal attention is important.

• Great summation of all the love languages and how they can be used in the workplace to show appreciation. If you’re familiar with the 5 love languages this will be an easy read. It includes Generational differences in love language expression, specifics for different style work places/different industries, expressing appreciation when working with volunteers, challenges that make expressing appreciation hard and how to overcome them, Lots of examples and case studies as well as Q&A. There are thought probing questions that guide the reader to understand their language of appreciation as well as language of appreciation for their coworkers and bosses. Love how the book stresses that it’s not just bosses that should show appreciation to subordinate but that coworkers and bosses need to be shown appreciation by employees as well.

• Great read that gives much food for thought for managers and employees for various ways of showing genuine appreciation without manipulation. Around 240 pages, the book addresses many areas, including
  
  1. Importance of knowing a person's "appreciation language".
  2. False assumptions about showing appreciation.
  3. Practical tips for becoming a better listener.
  4. 5 types of quality time and 4 barriers to quality time with others.
  5. 7 practical ways to effectively help others and 3 questions to ask yourself for helping others.
  6. Suggestions for appropriate physical contact when showing appreciation (indeed, this is a "touchy" subject nowadays - pardon the pun!).
  7. 3 informal ways to find your co-worker's appreciation language(s).
  8. 2 key parts in giving tangible gifts as tokens of appreciation.
  
  Well-written and full of excellent insights, the book is a great read for anyone who wants to be a better manager or co-worker. Will read again as a helpful future reference. Recommended.

• Diane Poole Heller is the best authority on attachment that I've found throughout years of research. She emphasizes somatic experiencing, trauma, healing and hope. She's informative for mental health professionals (me), trauma survivors (me) and people who want to heal their attachment injuries and create healthy relationships (me again!)
  
  I also recommend her audio presentation ("Healing Your Attachment Wounds," available on Audible or Sounds True.) It's great and she has such a soothing voice, which is a bonus. I feel more securely attached just listening to her! She has a lot of the same info in the audio as she does the book, but I haven't found it to be redundant. It's helpful to have two different formats.
• This book was wonderfully written. The author used very understandable language and a gentleness that is hard to miss. I really appreciated that the author gave strategies for each attachment style to help one work towards a more secure attachment. I highly recommend.
• The best thing about this book is the author’s gentle, reassuring tone. I’ve read other books on attachment theory that explain the attachment styles and provide relationship advice, but this is the first book that really made me feel like there is nothing wrong with those of us who have an insecure attachment style. I love how the author often writes in first person plural point of view (“When we grow up with an avoidant adaptation” or “Those of us with an ambivalent attachment style”), creating a sense of inclusion and acceptance. It makes this subject so much easier to read about.
  
  This book describes all four attachment styles secure, avoidant, ambivalent, and the often-neglected disorganized style. The author explains that these styles are on a continuum and can be quite fluid, changing over time and within different contexts. She maintains that anyone can learn how to function more securely and enjoy a happy relationship. To that end, she provides tips and exercises for working on your own attachment issues as well as learning how to understand and get along better with people of different attachment styles. Importantly, she also provides some suggestions for when it may be best to move on from a relationship.
  
  This book was easy to understand and emphasized a hopeful message that intimate connection is everyone’s birthright. I recommend this book for anyone interested in improving their relationships, or for counselors who want to help clients with attachment issues.
  
  I was provided an unproofed ARC through NetGalley that I volunteered to review. Because I have not seen the final published version, I cannot comment on the final editing and formatting.

• As a Native New Yorker now living on the west coast I am finally Glad Someone corrected the record on this event. The Writer did a brilliant Job on this I was in Army at the time and those kids got a RAW DEAL THEY Were from my Neighborhood and I was overseas at the time and it happened during the Puerto Rican Day parade. Everybody in the Neighborhood knew they were Innocent but with Trump and the Down Towners in their cross hairs.They had no chance. Plus the Police are always right even when they plant evidence and extract confessions with the 3rd Degree (Being Beating in Interrogation). A fact of life Growing up in East Harlem, If you lived it no matter how long ago or travelling all over the world you always remember Innocent or Guilty.
• Well written book. If read carefully, the book disproves its own thesis -- which would be my major complaint. Certain key facts are there, but buried under lots of opinion to the contrary. Here's the kicker -- a key defense witness statement seals the case for the prosecution! No jury would have or could have found these predators innocent. Other than contradicting itself, this is a good book.
• This book recounts the steps that led to a horrible injustice done to five teen aged boys who are referred to as the Central Park 5, who were convicted of raping the Central Park Jogger in 1989, and whose convictions were vacated completely after they served their full sentences. I lived in NY at that time, and the book is a fair recounting of the frenzy around the case as well as the details that led to overturning their convictions. The book and film are the work primarily of Sarah Burns, daughter of documentarian Ken Burns, and show the background research and production values of a Burns project. It's an easy and effective read, and highlights the ineffectiveness of the justice system when it is deliberately perverted by those in control of the process. I used the book and DVD in a class on how racial conflict is presented in the mass media focusing on the racial elements of the story, and found it very effective and balanced. Greater coverage of how the minority media covered the ongoing story would have strengthened the project, since the few references that are included indicate the coverage was very different, and especially since the five teenagers were all members of minority communities. Chapter titles would also have been handy. The whole mess is sad and frustrating and infuriating, and the interviews with the now-grown men reflect the pain and injustice of lives that cannot really be recovered. These kids were put into prison for years when they were not guilty and simply wanted to play baseball, create some art, and go to the prom. The impact of the film and book have been significant; for the first time in about ten years, the NY City government is starting to negotiate with them on compensation for unlawful imprisonment.
• I had a renewed interest in this case after the money judgement settlement. The author writes well, but her premise is that a jury in NYC, at the time, could not give a fair trial to five black and hispanic youths being tried for raping a white woman. I respectfully disagree, and the the juries were racially diverse and deliberated for over 10 days in both trials. If these youths are so innocent, than answer the following
  
  1. Why did Anton McCray only open up on the videotape confession after his mother said "Tell the truth, we brought you up better than that?." I watched the confession. This was interestingly left out of the book. I believe his confession is the most honest and accurate for this and other reasons. If you watch any one of the confessions, watch Anton's.
  2. Why were Kevin Richardsons underpants full of debris, grass stains, and semen? The jury actually discovered this and it was never pointed out at trial.
  3. Why did Korey Wise tell two different people, outside the police station, "that was us" when referring to the rape of the jogger? Why did he also tell another person that he either held or fondled the joggers legs (but did not rape her)? I admit that his videotape confession is the weakest, and that is why it is the only one played in the documentary.
  4. If Yusef was innocent, how did the pipe get out of his pocket and wind up being so instrumental in what happened that night? He portrays himself as a mere observer of the events, yet admits bringing the pipe.
  5. Why did Raymond Santana spontaneously say, outside the police station, that he grabbed the lady's breasts (he used another word)?
  6. Why did Steve Lopez say, before the jogger was found, "I didn't do the murder"? Why did Kevin Richardson then say "Anton did it?" Again, at this point the police did not know about the jogger, so no interrogation had occurred.
  7. Why did several boys name a "Tony" as one of the rapists? The author conveniently leaves out that Mattais Reyes went by the nickname "Tony", and that was well known. Also, Korey Wise said a "Rudy" stole the jogger's walkman, that Reyes actually did. The police did not know about this at the time, and it is admitted that Wise had a hearing issue, so it is possible he just misheard the name.
  8. If the police were orchestrating the confessions, why did they allow so many inconsistencies in the statements? I will also submit to you that the statements are more alike then they are different, and at night, in the dark, while attacking numerous people, I would never expect 33 teenagers to get the facts all the same.
  
  Reyes raped her, but these kids were there and participated. They were guilty under the acting in concert theory, and the jury got it right. Several of them were not convicted that were clearly there, like Thomas and Lopez, but that is just evidence that our system works in erring on the the side of innocence. Even if these kids did not engage in the jogger attack, and I believe they did, they all served about 6 years, which is very fair for attacking numerous people that night and gravely wounding several of them. The only person that has been racially attacked in all of this was Elizabeth Lederer. That woman deserves sainthood.
• amazing book
• I purchased this book because I had to do a research paper and I really don't regret at all. Good story, the writer did a great job.
• Well written, and a fairly balanced review of a horrible, highly publicized crime and it's outcome for five young men who were convicted but innocent. Disturbing look at how all levels of society pre-judge crime situations without all the facts. How those who are responsible for our safety abuse their power. How those who are responsible for protecting the innocent protect their own careers instead. How those who are supposed to report the news accurately distort the facts, are too lazy to get the facts, or are too busy trying to sell newspapers with sensationalism to get it right. Yet another example of how we humans fail over and over again to learn our lessons from past experience. For another recent example, read Zeitoun, by Dave Eggers.
• Was a very good read. The differences in the facts and what actually happened were amazing. So many people involved really made it interesting.

• I thought this waa written by Oprah. Its not. The introduction, the epilogue, 1st listing in each chapter, and.several quotes are from her but 99% are from other people. Not what I thought it would be. Its not stories but quotes. Im disappointed.
• Bought this on kindle and was disappointed to see how little content there is in this book. It's only about 200 pages and half of them are just pictures of flowers. Was hoping for more insight from Oprah but it's just a selection of short quotes from people. Maybe nice for a gift but not actually a useful book.
• The help that comes when you're seeking guidance on how to move forward in your calling is amazing. This book came out on a day where the resistance I was feeling within myself felt overwhelming.
  
  It was as though I was pushing the break and gas pedal of my life at the same time and with the same level of pressure and passion. I wanted to move forward, but I also wanted to stop.
  
  Only an hour into this book and one question after the other, one fervent prayer after the other, so many answered. I bought both the audiobook and kindle version so I could listen and study the words of these wise leaders. I encourage you to do the same as there's not only soul knowledge within these pages, but hope.

• So if you are looking for concrete direction in figuring out your life, this is not the book for you. I enjoyed the book but it is basically a book of motivational quotes and pretty pictures. It would make a nice "housewarming" gift but it's definitely not what the title leads one to think.
• everything that oprah says touches my heart. i cant get enough of her and her podcast and shows.
  
  these pages include colorful quotes and short stories from every insightful creative spiritual teacher around. all in one book. it really is a magical book.
  
  i think everyone needs it in their lives. to go to when you need it. you can just flip to any page and see what you need to read and know for the day.
• I am so happy with my purchase! The pages are filled with quotes from many people whom have influenced Oprah in a teachable aspect. As well as her own discovery to her purpose in life. I haven't finished it yet but it is a quick read. I can see myself going back to this book when in need of inspirational words.
• I, too, just purchased the book. I ordered it because it was Oprah. Then reading the comment that all proceeds were going to her hometown ... that did it. "Reaching back" "Paying forward" and all those other servant leadership qualities!!

• Hamish's story was much anticipated by me! He is, after all, a handsome prince, the maker of dirty emojis and all fun. When I realize he's a virgin, I have to say I was skeptical. But Delancey Stewart can pretty much convince me of anything!
  
  This was a wonderful second chance romance. Sophie was Hamish's childhood friend and teen crush. Their time apart was hard, but was likely what they both needed to grow into the adults them became.
  
  This is a fun story. I definitely enjoy the Mr. Match theme!
• Maybe it was because Hamish is my favorite or maybe it was because it was a second chance romance and had nothing to do with Mr Match, I was a little disappointed in this one. Don’t get me wrong, I did enjoy it, but I thought the story didn’t work for the series being about the dating app. I did like the prequel you can get from the link, which tells how Mr Match got started and his motivation behind it. But between that and the comments made throughout this book, it seemed more like a setup for Max’s story, than Hamish’s.

  Here we see Hamish 'Hammer' whom finds his true love, though he's always have had one, the one whom he left behind in Durnish & that's Sophie James MacMartin, but he hasn't been able to get her to contact him in the 6 yrs since his departure & she's the one & only reason he's never hooked up with any of the other women, who tries to go with The Sharks Players.
  But it's out of the blue from his eldest sister who tells him that Sophie followed him over & that's gets his head in gear to try & track her down.
  So we hear how things go & the reasoning why she didn't track him/go after him.
  They move extremely fast with some comical episodes of their joining. Lucky the team are in their Off Season time as I don't know h how things would've worked out, or at least how long it would've taken Hamish to convince Sophie that she's always been his one & only.
  And we see doting during this time Max, who's determined to see if they are destined & fit together under Mr.Match without letting on why he keeps asking these odd questions. But Hamish makes him to start thinking slightly about the heart & not just in the mathematically way.

• Hamish and Sophie had a story to end all stories. They grew up in the same small town, were friends, both wanted more, and finally admitted it right before he left to go to the states. Six years later, they both still love each other, but she believes that he has moved on (based on something she saw when she tried to surprise him by coming to town), and he didn't even know she was in the states. He thought she was the one who got away.
  Things progress quickly, and things seem to be going well. When customs and traditions happen, it all comes crashing down. It appears, due to he step dad, that he is only with her so he can keep his claim on the royal title (which he will never be king). She was so hurt six years prior, that she believes he was only settling for her. He regrets not telling her about the stipulation, but he has to find a way to get her to listen to him. The way he does is wonderful and the whole story had me swooning for "Hammer".
  Mr. Match is not in this book as much, because he has to secretly fill out his questionnaire on Hamish's behalf. He doesn't trust that they are meant to be without running the math behind the match. Will they be the perfect match or not? What Hamish tells Max at the end actually gets Max thinking a little differently. I loved this book and have loved this series. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.
• He left his royal family behind in Durnish to be on a soccer team in the US. He also left his childhood best friend and girl he loved with the intentions of getting her later when he settled. They were both shy and naive at the time. He wrote and emailed her, but she never returned any of his messages. She saved her all and 3 months after he left she came to the US to be with him, but caught up with him at a bar. He had 2 girls on his lap and was kissing one of them. He never saw her and she went on with her life. She becomes a baker and has her own shop. One of his teammates does a tasting for his wedding cake with her and buys a cake from her to take home that is the prince's mother's recipe. When he taste it, he knows it's his mother's and they tell him where they got it. One thing leads to another and the dance among them to the end that also includes all their homeland traditions is wonderful to read. He has to be married by his 30th birthday to claim his place in line to the crown and it is coming within months. Could not put this book down..

• Hamish knew Sophie was the girl for him ever since they were children growing up near each other in their home country of Durnham. But he hasn’t seen her since he left for the US to play professional soccer six years ago. He was recently reminded that he has to marry by his thirtieth birthday in less than a year and told that Sophie has been in the US almost as long as he has. His friends Fuerte and Erica bring a piece of cake back from a wedding cake design shop that tastes just like his mother’s and he realizes where Sophie has been all along. But their romance is not smooth. She’s seen him with other women in public even though it never went any further. She’s been in other relationships since they parted. And he doesn’t tell her about the marriage deadline. There was plenty of humor in this second chance romance. The engagement feats were crazy. As were the sheep, bagpipes, and fortune teller in Hamish’s apartment building. Mr. Match didn’t have much to do with this one and I’m still hoping he finds his own romance in a future book.
